Repost: Encouragement
I love the message here - more wise words from Dave.
Reminds us of why we pay it forward. I do it of course to help others, but I also selfishly do it to help myself - helps keep me mindful of the importance of my quit and reminds me I can never have just one (I am not blowing a long term quit again buying that lie).

I heard a story about a Mother who went out jogging with her 10 year old daughter. While they were running, they came upon a hill that was pretty steep and long. As they were going up the hill the Mother kept saying, "C'mon Judy You Can Do It; C'mon Judy You Can Do It." A few days later, another woman ran into the Mother at a store and commented, "I saw you jogging with your daughter Judy the other day. I thought it was wonderful the way you were encouraging little Judy and helping her make it up that hill." The Mother looked at the woman rather sheepishly and said, "Thank you but I'm Judy."
A lot of times, here on the Q, someone who is having a rough time of it will post, "Help - I'm going crazy for a cigarette." In about 15 minutes there are about 20 responses to the post that say in effect, "C'mon Judy You Can Do It; C'mon Judy You Can Do It." Those responding are not only posting encouraging words for for the person asking for help, but they are posting memos for themselves as well. Sometimes the replies we post are the replies we need to hear ourselves.
Remember - Every time you reach out a hand to help someone else, you automatically receive a hand in return. Isn't it terrific how that works? So make sure you keep shouting those words of encouragement and helping others. "C'mon Judy You Can Do It; C'mon Judy You Can Do It." You'll be helping yourself up that hill as well and I'll.....
See You At The Top
